Training Guide

Different ways of training your pet!
Before I begin, I just want to make a note of all the stats of your pet and how they help you in the battledome.

Level: Level allows you to train different stats in the training school and Academy. Without level, you would not be able to train any other stats in those two different places, but all the other things would still work (such as quests and neggs). Once you reach level 50 on your pet, you will gain a certain attack which is called berserk. This allows you to do more damage with the amount of icons that you use. Otherwise, level is useless in the battledome. Also, a tip to training level is to not train it as much as possible. I know you want to get that berserk attack and use it right away but think of the consequences. You will be paying more to train the other stats and having to waiste more time. So I suggest that you be patient and wait to get the berserk attack until you are close to that level.

Max Hit Points: Your Max Hit Points (HP) determines the total amount of damage that you can take in a battle. It is also known as Endurance in the training school and Academy. You will need to train this as much as possible, so that you can last longer in a battle against someone.

Strength: Your strength determines how much damage you deal in a battle. This does not depend on an individual amount, it depends on getting a certain amount of strength before you are able to deal more damage. This is known as a strength boost. The boosts and the damage that they do are:
List of Boosts and the Damage Multiplier
0 - 0.5
8 - 0.75
13 - 1.0
20 - 1.25
35 - 1.5
55 - 2.0
85 - 2.5
125 - 3.0
200 - 4.5
250 - 5.5
300 - 6.5
350 - 7.5
400 - 8.5
450 - 9.5
500 - 11.0
550 - 12.0
600 - 13.0
650 - 14.0
700 - 15.0
. Currently there is no boost after 700. For example, if your pet has 117 strength, and your opponent has 87 strength. Both of you would have the same strength boost because you would both be in the 85 strength boost making your amount of damage equal. But if you had 127 and your opponent has 121, you would have the advantage because you would have the higher boost.

Defence: Defence is used in the battledome to stop attacks from dealing as much damage as it usually would. Most battledomers do not bother with this stat too much because they usually go for an all out attack force, not worrying about defending themselves, but I consider this a very good stat to train because it can help you if you are new and do not have very good attacking weapons. I have won many battles because of training this stat. It works on the same principal as strength, and all the boosts are the same.

Speed/Agility: Currently, Agility/Speed is not required in the battledome. There are no uses for this stat right now so not many people like to train it. Some people have suggested that this stat is useful when you are using a stealing weapon but this is uncomfirmed. Until there is a specific use for this, I would not bother training it, even though neopets might think of something in the future. It is up to you if you wish to train this stat or not.

There are many different ways of training, here is all the ways that I know how.

The differences between The Academy and The Training School.

The payment required for the Academy are dubloons, while the payment for the Training School are codestones. Dubloons cost about 500 less np than codestones (on average and not during wars where the price of codestones and dubloons are inflated due to the fact that most people want to train there pets during that time), which can save you a lot in the long run, but is it really worth the time? The Academy may be cheaper, but the time it takes to train is double the amount of the time it takes for people who train at the Training School. If you are low on np, then i suggest going to The Academy (having made sure your pet is the appropriate level), but if you got a few np to spare, and want to train your pet as quickly as possible, then I suggest the Training School. Keep in mind, that once you pass the 40 level mark, you can not train your pet at the Academy again, so i suggest, if you are training at the Academy, you train as many stats as possible before you pass level 40.

1. The Academy

How do I get there?

To get to the academy, all you must do is click on explore which is located on the yellow tool bar. Then click on Krawk Island. Then you will see The Academy, just click on the building and you have now entered it.

What do I do once I get there?

Once you are inside the academy, you first need to click on the 'courses' link located near the top. Then go down to the bottom, where it will ask you which course you want to train, and which pet you wish to train. (Do not train agility, it does not help you in the battledome, thus waist your np). After selecting a course, you should then click which pet you want to train, after that, click the 'start course' button. Once you've done that, go to the top of the page, and next to the 'courses' link, click on the 'status' link. It will take you to the page that shows you which stat you are training and what dubloon you will need.

How do I buy the Dubloon needed for this training?

To buy the dubloon, click on the 'shops' link located on the yellow tool bar. Then click on the wizard hat at the top where all the other icons are. Then the shop wizard will appear. Next to the 'What are you looking for?' is the box. Type in the dubloon needed for the training, a list of people with that item will appear in the order from cheapest (at the top) to the most expensive (which is located at the bottom). Click on the first name and scroll through the shop until you see the item you want to buy. Then click on it, a prompt will appear confirming that you wish to buy the item. Click yes, then head back to the academy and click on 'stats' again. Click on the 'pay' button, and your pet will begin training.

OK!! Now what?!?!

Your pet doesnt automatically end the session, you have to do that for it. Go back to the academy and to the status page, and it will have a button telling you that the session is over. To finish it, just click the button and it will say that your pet has gained a point in whatever. Then you are finished, and can begin the long process over again.

2.The Training School

How do I get there?

To get there, just click on explore which is located on the yellow toolbar, then click on Mystery Island, then click on Training School.

What do I do once I get there?

When you enter the Training School, click on courses, at the bottom of the screen it will ask which course you wish to take and which pet to train. (Remember: There is no point training agility as it has no use in the bd). Click on the stat you wish to increase, then click on the pet, then click on the 'start course' button. Next, click on the status button, once you reach the page, it will show you which codestones you need. Pay attention to which ones it says, because there are many different codestones.

Where do I find the Codestones at?

To get the codestones, click on the 'shops' link located on the yellow toolbar and then click on the wizard hat, which is next to all the other icons on the top. The shop wizard will appear and in the box next to 'What are you looking for' type in the exact codestone that you saw in the status page. A row will come up with people who have the item, from the person with the least price to the person with the most expensive. Click on the first person and scroll down until you find the item. Once you see it, click on it and a prompt screen will come up asking you if you really want to buy the item. Click yes, then return to the Training School. Click on the 'courses' link. It will then ask if you have the codestone, and if you wish to pay, click here. The word 'here' will be a link and once you click it, your pet will begin training.

Am I finished?!?!

No. You are not finished yet. After the time is up, it will want you have a button telling you that the session is over, click on the button and it will tell you that your pet has increased a point in whatever it was training. After you finish this, complete the process as many times as you like.

3.Neggs

Neggs are the quickest way of training your pet, but they are also the most expensive. Training your pet with neggs can cost a lot of neopoints, and only certain neggs give you stat increase.

What are neggs?

Neggs are a type of food item, you can get some of them in the food shop, or if you search around neopets, you might get a negg out of a random event. Some neggs can do very good things, while others may do bad. Also, some neggs can be exchanged for tokens at the neggery, and once you get enough tokens, you can get better neggs.

Where is the Neggery?

To get to the neggery, just click on explore, then on Terror Mountain. After that, click on Ice Caves, and you will see the Neggery, which is near the bottom and to the left.

How do I change my neggs into tokens?

To change your neggs into tokens, go to the bottom of the screen in the Neggery, and it will ask you to select the negg that you want to change into tokens. Click on the negg, then hit the go button. Afterwards, at the top of the screen it will show you how many tokens you have.

How do I get the better neggs?

Once you have enough tokens for the certain negg that you wish to buy, the negg faeries says: 'To see what I have for sell, click here'. This saying is right below the picture of the negg faerie. The word 'here' should be a link, so click on it. Once you have clicked on it, it will show all the neggs that she is selling and how much she is selling them for.

SO, what neggs actually increase your stats and by how much?

Basic Power Negg "May" give + 1 Defence Points
Cool Negg Gives you 1 level 1-3 Max Hit Points 1-3 Movement Point 1-3 Strength Points
Faerie Queen Negg Gives 1 Max Hit Point
Ferocious Negg Gives 1-3 Strength Points and a random disease
Power Negg Gives 1 Strength Point
Silver Knight Negg Gives 1 Defence Point
Snegg Gives 1-3 Max Hit Points 1-3 Movement Points
Spiked Negg Gives 2-3 Max Hit Points
Super Negg Gives you 1 level 1-3 Max Hit Points 1-3 Movement Point

4.The Lab Ray

What is the Lab Ray?

The lab ray is a type of map. Once you get all nine pieces of the lab map, you form a map that does weird stuff to your pet.

Where do you get the pieces to make the Lab Ray?

You can buy them two ways, through the shop wizard, where you will obtain all nine pieces seperately, or through the trading post, where people might be trading all of them together. To buy them seperately, click on 'shops' on the yellow side bar. Then there will be a wizard hat at the top of the screen next to a whole bunch of other images. Click on the hat, and it will take you to the shop wizard. Type in 'Secret Laboratory Map' and a list will come up with the item. You will have to do this until you get all nine pieces of the map. This method may be a little cheaper than buying the whole set at the trading post, but it still has a downside. Since all the pieces have the same name, there is no telling which part of the map that you are looking up. Making it difficult to obtain all nine pieces. To get the full set of the laboratory map piece from the trading post, just click on explore on the yellow side bar, then on Mystery Island, then click 'Trading Post'. Then at the top will be some links. Click on the link 'Browse Lots'. Type in the words 'Secret Laboratory Map' and a whole list of people should come up with what items they have for trade. Scroll through the list until you find someone with all nine pieces. Click on there name and check to see the last time they logged on. You dont want to bid on someone who last logged in in 2001. After that, see how much they want, and then click on 'Make an offer!'. Then bid how much the person wants (or neomail him trying to haggle a price) and wait for him to accept. The only problem with this is that, most people who sell all the pieces together usually want more np. Making it more expensive.

Ok, I have all the pieces, now what??

Once you have all nine pieces, make sure they are all in your inventory, then click on 'games' which is on the yellow side bar. Then click on 'Puzzles' and scroll down until you see 'Treasure Maps'. Click on it and there will be some links at the top. Click on 'Laboratory'. Im not exactly sure what it will say but it will say something along the lines of. Do You want to put this map together? or something like that. Just click yes, and it will do it.

OK, so now I have the map, whats so good about it??

Everyday from that moment on, you will be able to use the lab ray once a day. To use the lab ray, click on games, then click on puzzles, then on Treasure Maps, then on Laboratory. It will then say 'Proceed to the Secret Lab'. Click on that, and another screen will appear. It will then say 'Yes I want to try the ray! and underneath that it will say '(and I am aware of the consequenses)'. Then it will ask which pet you wish to use on the lab ray, and it will fire a ray and change your pet somehow.

So, what all can the lab ray do?

The Lab ray can change any number of things. It can change your pet's species, color, gender, decrease your stats, or INCREASE your stats.

5. Quests

What are quests?

Quests are given to you buy faeries or you can do certain quests by actually going to there pages and a doing them. They can be used to make np or up your stats.

So, how do you get the faerie quests?

You get the faerie quests by random events. There is no actual way of receiving a faerie quest on your own. It depends on how much luck you have on neopets. Some people might get them everyday, and some people might not get them for months at a time. Either way, it is very lucky to get a faerie quest and so do not take it likely. They usually ask for items that are cheaper then the amount you pay to train at the academy or training school. If you get the Earth Faerie quest, it does not up your stats, so there is no point in doing her quests unless you just wish to. All she does is make your pet bloated.

I got a faerie quest, how do I get the item if I can't use the shop wizard?

The Faerie quests do not allow you to use the shop wizard, so you must some how obtain it some other way. These are a few ways that you can obtain it.
a)You can post the item that the faerie wants in the message board in your guild. Most of the time, people respond with people who have them in their shops. All you have to do it copy the name of a person someone posts in your guild that has the item, and paste it into the search engine which is right underneath how many neopoints you have out. Then click the go button. It will give you a list of all the items, neopians, pets, whatever that has that name in it. Click on the one that is by user:. Then it will show his userlookup. Click on the link that is next to shop. It should say 'Size' then a number showing how big their shop is. Once you are in the shop, locate the item that the quest faerie, then click on the wizard hat that is at the top. It will say that you are on a quest and that you shouldn't be cheating and to go to the page to see what item you need to bring them. Once you are on that page, the faerie will ask if you have brought her the item she wants. Just click the yes button and she will thank you and up your stats.

b)If there seems to be no one responding to your message at the guild board, then you should go to the battledome chat or quest chat rooms. To get there just click on 'chat' which is on the yellow tool bar. Just type in what the faerie wants and someone there should respond. After they tell you some usernames, all you have to do it copy the name of a person and paste it into the search engine which is right underneath how many neopoints you have out on the yellow tool bar. Just click the yes button and she will thank you and up your stats.

c)If no one seems to be responding to you anywhere, try checking out the trades. To get to the trades just click on 'explore' on the yellow tool bar, then 'Mystery Island' then 'Trading Post'. Then click on 'Browse Lots', which is located on the top next to some other links. Type in the name of the item, then click on 'Find Those Trades'. It will then find all the people with that item in their trades. Go to one of them and look at their userlookup by clicking on the name. See when the last time the person logged into neopets, and pick one that is recent. Then make an offer based on all the trades and see if he accepts. If he does not, then neomail him asking what he would like for it and make an offer. Once he accepts go to shops, click on the wizard hat. And the faerie will say for you not to cheat and go to the faerie page. It will ask if you have the item, and click the yes button. The Faerie will change one of your pet's stats.

Which faeries are there and what do they give you?

The Fire Faerie Gives a random pet + 2 Strength Points
The Water Faerie Gives a random pet + 2 Defence Points
The Light Faerie Gives a random pet + 1 Level
The Dark Faerie Gives a random pet + 2 Max Hit Points
The Air Faerie Gives a random pet + 2 Speed Points
The Earth Faerie Makes a random pet bloated, heals your pet to full hit points, cures the pet from a disease, and your pet gains a pound.
The Faerie Queen Gives a random pet + multiple stats.
The Space Faerie + 4 levels
The Fountain Faerie You are able to paint your pet any color in the rainbow fountain.

Kitchen Quests *NOTE: You are only aloud 10 quests a day from Kitchen Quest now.*

Where are the Kitchen Quests?

The Kitchen Quests are located in Mystery Island. To get there all you must do is click on 'Explore' on the yellow side bar, then click on 'Mystery Island'. The Kitchen Quests are right below 'The Arena'.

How do I get a quest?

To get a quest all you have to do is click on the button that says 'Sure I will help'. It will then bring up another page that shows the items you need to get in order to complete this quest.

Ok, I am doing his quest, how do I get the Items?

Unlike Faerie Quests, Kitchen Quests allow you to use the shop wizard to get items. So that is precisely what you will use. Copy the first item that he wants you to get and then click on 'Shops', which is on the yellow tool bar. Once you do this there will be some icons at the top, one of which is a wizard's hat. Click on this. The screen should come up as the shop wizard. Paste the item name into the slot next to the words 'What are you looking for'. Then click search shops. Make sure the shops that it finds has the item that you are looking for. There are many items in neopia, and many have almost the exact same name as another item. In which it may bring up that item instead. To check, look at the middle section of the list which tells you the item it is looking up. If it is identical to the item that you copied and pasted than you have the right item. Instead of buying the item, check to see how much it costs. Then go back to the Kitchen Quest page and check the prices of the other items.

Ok, I checked the prices now what??

The reason you should check all the prices is to see if the quest is too expensive. Sometimes, the quests are very expensive, and if you buy the other items before you check all the items, you may have wasted your np for nothing. But if you check your prices, then you will see approximately how much it costs. I usually dont do a quest that costs more than 2000 np. But that is just because of my budget. You may want to do quests that are lower or higher, it all depends on how much np you have and how much np you are willing to waste.

The price isn't too bad..so how do I buy the items?

To buy the items, do the exact same thing as you would to check the prices, but instead of just leaving after you checked the item, click on the name of the first person who has that item. Then scroll through the shop until you find the item, click on it and it will ask if you really want to buy the item. Click yes, and continue doing this until you have all the items. Then head back to the Kitchen Quests Page. Click on the button that says 'I have all the ingredients!'. It will then tell you that he has successfully made the recipe and reward you.

Earlier, you said that it all depends on how much np you are willing to waste. Why would you say that?

The reason I said that was because the Kitchen Quests are a very risky quest. It is not guaranteed to give your pets stats boosts. In fact, there are a number of things that it can give you. Some times it gives you less np than what you spent on the quest. Other times, it gives you inexpensive battledome items, which would make you lose np. Other times, it can give you stat increases, but maybe to the wrong pet (if you have more than one pet). That is why it is such a risk to do this. Because then it would be harder to get the stat boost and to the right pet. That is why you shouldn't spend too much np on it and always depend on it for training. Because it is not that realiable.

6.Scratchcards

What are scratchcards??

Scratchcards are items where you take can get either at the kiosk located in Terror Mountain inside the Ice Caves, or in Scratch card kiosk in the Deserted Fairground in The Haunted Woods.

How do they help you train??

Only a certain scratchcard gives you training. This scratchcard is called the Terror Trove Scratchcard and can only be bought or used in the kiosk in Terror Mountain. If you are lucky, you may be able to scratch three up arrows, which gives a random pet + level.

How do I get hold of the scratchcard?

To get this particular scratchcard, you can only get it from the kiosk in Terror Mountain. Click on the button that states 'Yes, I will have one please' and it will give you a RANDOM scratchcard. Yes, it will give you a random scratchcard, making the odds of getting the right scratchcard against you. Therefore, it is better if you go to the shop market. Type in Terror Trove Scratchcard and find the cheapest price and buy it. Then return to the Kiosk in Terror Mountain.

I have the Scratchcard, how do I use it?

To use the scratchcard, go to the drop-down menu and scroll until you find the scratchcard, then click on the 'Scratch' button next to it. After the new screen appears, click on any 6 gray circles. You have six chances to get 3 up arrows in the scratchcard.

Are using the scratchcards good to use all the time?

Using the scratchcards are alright for trying to raise pet level some of the time, but not for main use of gaining level. The chance of getting the up arrows is not that great and it may go to the wrong pet. I would not rely on the scratchcards for training level becuase more likely than not, you are not going to get the level up.

*NOTE: If you have any questions, concerns, or constructive criticism/suggestions about this training guide, please neomail me. Also, everything on here is based on my understanding. Thanks and have a great day!*
